The SURAJ Group was founded in 1983 by its Managing Director, Mr Pritam Chugha, when its first business was established – Dashmesh Engine & Auto Parts. This business entered the engineering market with the supply of high quality engine parts, auto parts and machine tools.

In 1986, SURAJ recognised the undersupply in the Australian local food industry of grocery products from the subcontinent. This called for the establishment of SURAJ International Products (Australia) Pty Ltd to cater for the needs of households, restaurants, grocery stores, other wholesalers and supermarkets. Due to the dedication towards supreme quality, competitive pricing and customer satisfaction, which rewarded the business with customer loyalty and demand, SURAJ obtained considerable market share.

To further improve and control the quality of its products in the grocery business and to ensure even fresher supply, the decision was made to backward integrate by commencing the manufacturing of the SURAJ brand of products. The SURAJ product range has become very popular amongst many industries and communities globally. The range is supplied throughout Australia, the Pacific region, Asia, Middle-East, Canada and America.

SURAJ Continental Flour Mills was established in Australia in 1986 for the milling of specialty stone ground and polished flour, which has become significantly popular, especially amongst the bakery and food industries. The finest Australian produce is milled to produce natural flour high in nutritional value and superb for health and fitness.

SURAJ Spice & Grinding Mills in Australia and SURAJ Grocery Products (India) in India were set up to provide the selection and grinding of various exotic spices and masala in order to provide premium freshness and quality. Strict Quality Control Procedures are followed in order to make available the finest range of spices and masala. These businesses of SURAJ also offer commercial grinding services to various food industries.

Moga Rice Mills was established in India to accommodate the supply of supreme quality Basmati and Long Grain rice. This member of the SURAJ Group mills various popular brands of rice and related products for the local and export markets. Moga Rice Mills is Agmark registered (Quality Certified) and is a member of the Spice Board in India.

In order to further increase quality control and product perfection, SURAJ gave Moga Rice Mills and SURAJ Grocery Products (India) the shared responsibility of selecting and supplying all of the finest products from the sub-continent.
